Where am I going this time? In 2020 I began the Amerithon Challenge. It was a virtual challenge to walk the number of miles from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Washington Monument. I have almost completed that walk. Now, using the segment names/locations provided for that walk, I am going to drive it. I will start in Tallahassee, drive to Raleigh NC, then begin the adventure there. Beginning in Raleigh, the following sites are on my map. In some cases, they are just there to keep me on track. Some I will stop and look, others spend the night. I have divided into 'Phases', based on the number of stops I can used in each Google Map (10 or less) Phase 1: Raleigh; Watauga Falls; Hot Springs, NC; Davenport Gap TN; Kingston, TN, Burgess Falls State Park TN; Music City Center, Nashville, TN; Paris Landing State Park ; Alton, MO. Phase 2: Alton, MO; Hercules Glades Wilderness; Monkey Island, OK; Kaw Lake, OK; Salt Plains Sta...

Burgess Falls
Have to admit, I am not good at stopping to get pictures on these trips. The sites I have planned to visit are from a 'Virtual Walk' I started in 2020 (almost done), from the Golden Gate Bridge to the Washington Monument. Most of the sites selected by the creators of this walk are best seen from the trail. Unfortunately, for some of them there was no place to park at the side of the road to see the site. In other cases, the walk to the 'main event' was more that I could handle. In fact, the base of Burgess is accessible by canoe or kayak. Burgess Falls is a Tennessee State Park. https://tnstateparks.com/parks/burgess-falls
George Washington Carver National Monument
Visited the George Washington Carver National Monument in Newton County, Missouri. It was founded by Franklin Delano Roosevelt July 14, 1943. Watched a video about his life, including a depiction of a congressional Committee meeting where he was requesting a tariff on imported peanuts to assist local farmers develop their crops.

Nice!
